𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐮𝐫 most recent Run UK and Ireland finisher, Donna Howarth!
We love hearing from our members and what motivates you to join Run the World. Donna really touched us with her journey and we're grateful to be able to share her inspirational story with our Run UK and Ireland community too.
"This has been a great journey for me which I started in Jan 2016 when I realised my weight gain was getting out of control... I joined slimming world and reached my 6 stone weightloss just over a year later... I took up running after my mom got cancer as I wanted to do a mud run to raise some money for charity and soon realised how much it did for my mind (giving me time to think) just when I need some more motivation to keep me going my hubby suggested I ran an official half marathon every month... I did this then saw someone post about your app. I did the free challenge to run to the national running show in Birmingham in and duly signed up at the show and wow has this kept me motivated... thanks so much for your hard work with this community.
I love the motivation it gives me to get out the door even on cold, dark and wet mornings. As I mentioned my running was very much centered on health and mental well being as my mom was dying of cancer, it helped me process the concept of loosing her and then just 6 months after she died, I had to cope with loosing my dad to a broken heart.. once again running was a major help in dealing with the heartbreak. I have kept the 6 stone I lost in weight off now for almost 4 years and running really helps with this... I am currently training to run the Manchester marathon although this keeps getting postponed... and have now signed up to run a virtual run where I have to run a mile every hour on the hour for 24 hours!
I'm looking forward to the next map and the next few years of fitness, fresh air and mental wellbeing". - Donna
